50: Along the River

Dear Friend,

How are you doing? Wow, this is already the last week of Autumn. Winter begins next Saturday. During the cold days, it might not cross your mind to visit watery places like the beach, or a lake or pond, or river. But in your normal everyday routine, this time of year can be very stressful, there are expectations and deadlines, galore.

Nature can be a wonderful, healthful treat, a place to regroup, to just BE. Water emits negative ions that are scientifically proven to be both calming and invigorating, water is good for living things like you and me.

When is the last time you stood quietly by a stream of rushing water? (I suppose if you just did the dishes, it was two minutes ago). But that’s not what I mean. I hope that you can take the time this week to visit a watery place, (besides your kitchen sink), and, Breathe!

A morning walk along the river

Spend a moment thinking about the journey of a drop of water. One drop, so tiny, right? Now, picture the ocean or the snowy peaks of a giant mountain. All those tiny drops and flakes, such power in togetherness.

When Frank and I visit the river (or a stream, pond, lake or ocean, etc.) it feels like we’re visiting a wise and excellent listener… water has always been a precious friend to us.

I think that it’s an obvious fact-worth-celebrating that water is life on this planet, it is critical to everything. Thank you, water!

While we’ve paused our travels to be with family, we’re grateful to have time together and to be located where there is a lot of nature and hiking trails nearby... and it’s also just a short-ish drive down to the river.

The following video, Along the River, is a Frank Bevans video / Lee Hoffman music collaboration.

Our thanks to Lee for sharing her love of the river and this music from her heart. And please visit Frank’s River Collection for more beautiful watery photos!

We hope that your week ahead includes lots of fun and peaceful moments! Please write to us and let us know how things are going in your world. We always enjoy hearing from you!

Gently Be,

Leslie and Frank
