Dear Friend,

Hello! It has been a handful of weeks since our last post. We hope that things have been going well in your world.

Frank and I will be getting back on the road next weekend. Meanwhile, we’ve been in separate counties of California, dog & cat sitting. We feel very grateful to get to spend time with these sweet friends, and we look forward to being together soon.

Frank is a photographer, as you know, and his life-long love of nature has taken him to many beautiful places. He is, at this moment, dog-sitting off the grid in a beautiful forest. There, he has had an opportunity to fly his drone. Here is a video, “By the Riverside,” he captured on his most recent flight, accompanying music created by our friend, Troy Burns.

Rivers say a lot and I could say a lot about them. In the United States alone, there are over 250,000 of them babbling away, nearly 24/7.

A river takes the time it takes, it's countless traveling raindrops, and if you can sit by the riverside, slow down, breathe and really listen, you might be surprised at the wisdom you didn’t even know you had in that beautiful mind of yours.

When I think of writing to you, I usually consider explaining the details about our situation.

I imagine writing, “Blah, Blah, aww, Blah, new toothbrush, Blah, ha, gas prices, ha, Blah.”

But, then I think better of it.

As much as we’d like to be in touch with you, we’ve decided that on any given week, if we don’t have something new to share about nature, we might not post a blog/letter. But since life is a beautifully natural place to be, perhaps we really should be posting every week because we are definitely experiencing life, aren’t we, you and me and Frank?

I’m talking with Frank on the phone as I write this, he’s approximately an hour and 40 mins away, up in the foothills of the California Sierras. He’s looking at the weather to find out why he’s seeing thunderheads building. It’s truly lovely, rain in the forecast (sans dry-lightning).

I have Frank on speaker phone, one of the cats here recognizes his voice from past-cat-sitting, and is circling around the phone, happy to hear from him - it is so cute!

Did you see the sunrise this morning? From here, near Sacramento, California, the sky was a brilliant red. Of course, that reminds me of the old weather adage that goes something like: “Red skies at night, sailor’s delight - red skies in the morn, sailors be warned.” On red-sky mornings, a storm is usually somewhere around the corner.

If you weren’t out for sunrise this morning, there’s always tomorrow.

I’ll leave you with something a happy friend once told me about sunrises, “They’re there because you’re not asleep.”

Thank you for checking in to read Tracks by the Post. We are grateful for you, we hope you can feel it. Please write if you would like, we do enjoy hearing from you! (We will reply as soon as we are able). Take good care.

Gently Be,

Leslie and Frank
