Dear Friend,
Happy first day of the month of June! What’s keeping you busy these days? Is this a social month for you? Are you attending picnics, weddings, graduations, and, maybe you and your newly adopted pup are taking socialization classes, (learning better ways for everyone to behave in public)… no matter how you are spending your time, we hope that you are enjoying each day.
We do miss having a dog in our family. A dog leads with happy energy, teaches with patience, comforts and listens, what a wonderful companion, a unique character, full of love.
As you know, there are so many non-wild animals in the world, right this very minute, that are fending for themselves, or are awaiting adoption in a Kennel.
We are sad that we aren’t able to give a dog a good home right now. I’m just (lightly) nudging you with the subject today in case you are on the fence about adopting a dog or cat or horse or bunny… or, maybe, you are on your way to do that right this very minute! How exciting & what a happy day for all!
Every creature has a unique persona, and with such a variety of living beings on the planet, this world is full of personality!

Frank’s photos celebrate the spirit dwelling in every living thing. Here are some of his latest portraits, (we are currently visiting the coast near Monterey, California).

Do you already know that these are sea lions? Lots of people call them ‘seals,’ and I doubt that being mis-named matters much to most sea lions, but here is a short, helpful video that explains the DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SEALS AND SEA LIONS. Now we know!

The ocean's tides and its ever rushing waves, in and out, like breath ... and it can be unpredictable, bratty, even. The ocean is a wild thing with a strong undefinable personality; it is a body of water that we respect and love. And it will do what it will do, it is up to us to pay attention... or not.

Because the ocean is strong and the rugged coastline is often shrouded in fog, lighthouses are there to help keep people from crashing their ships into the shore. This is the Point Pinos lighthouse, located in Pacific Grove, CA.

As with most lighthouses, its history is rich with stories about the lighthouse keepers and other characters attracted to the unique dwelling. This little film: Story of the Point Pinos Lighthouse was played on our tour of the lighthouse, giving an overview of the history of this lighthouse.
Do you think that buildings have personalities? No? Only me? Ok, well, I think that the Point Pinos lighthouse is polite but reserved, like it has more to say if only it could speak freely. As I’ve mentioned in previous letters to you, when it comes to History, I think that there is always way more to the story. Some people believe that Point Pinos is haunted. Other writings about the lighthouse focus on its usefulness during WWII, as a lookout tower rather than a source of light, (there were strict black-out rules throughout coastal areas at that time). These days, Point Pinos lighthouse is surrounded by a golf course and is still a very important beacon, keeping human ocean goers safely distanced from the rocky shore.
Other ocean goers don't need such assistance.

As always, we are grateful that you are here, reading Tracks by the Post. When you have a moment, please Write to Us and tell us about your pet's personality, your home's personality, and / or just let us know how you are doing, it is always good to hear from you!
We hope that your week is full of good things and fun friends!
Gently Be,
Leslie and Frank
